Session 6#B

2010/2011 > Raport

ROUND 6 GROUP B

Difficult weather has defined group B fishing dates, and Sunday’s weather forecast wasn’t to disappoint; the day started out with strong winds and rain followed by an noontime thunderstorm. The storm brought lightening, a rotating sky, wind shifts, and twenty minutes of strong hail. The hail came down fast and hard, not something someone could stand in, fortunately we had all set up shelters. So far the damage has been a couple of dings in the car finish and the rods still need to be cleaned off and inspected.
Nonetheless, April 3rd was the last day of the tournament for group B, and the weather was not going to stop Marcin, Tomasz and Dan from fishing; Paul and Larry, could not make it. The peg draw had the anglers proportionally spaced at the venue: Dan peg 1, Marcin peg 3 and Tomasz peg 5. Peg 5 landed its first fish by 7:30am, peg 3 by 8:15am and peg 1 was not to see a recordable fish till 2pm.
It was an all out battle between pegs 3 and 5 that would not be decided until the last few minutes of the tournament. Twenty eight fish were caught between the two pegs and Tomasz caught the last fish of the day, a 15+ pounder at 2:56pm, just four minutes before the end of the allotted fishing time. This last fish was the deciding factor giving Tomasz the win! Large fish of the day went to peg 1 at 18lbs.
Congratulations and good luck to Tomasz, an outstanding angler, who is in contention for the overall top three finishers!
Recap: When organizing this tournament, Paul Sanders had said it would take truly hardcore fishermen and he was right! This winter tournament has put anglers and gear to tests of endurance. Extreme weather seemed to be the rule not the exception. Congratulations to all the anglers in all the groups who participated and braved the weather and challenges. The venue itself has held up well to the fishing pressure and is still producing fine catches.
Many thanks to Magdalene and Ernest from World Classic Baits for organizing this event and to all the sponsors who supported it.
Good luck to groups C and D in the remaining events!

Dan Ramir (Slimy)
