Session 6#A

2010/2011 > Raport

Group A Final Session

The Group A contestants arrived at dawn to find thousands of seagulls feasting on dead and dying shad that were clogging the venue. A cold northeast wind drove the wind chill into the teens. Tracy was the only one missing at the peg draw. As luck would have it, he would have fished from the coveted peg 1. After his recent wrist surgery, it's better that he did not give it a try hauling from that position. Hope the recovery is swift and complete.

With peg 1 vacant, Adam inherited end peg status on peg 2 and left the rest of the field in the dirt with over 80# for the day and 5 points. Adam allowed an occasional fish to pass through to Larry on peg 3 for 35# and 3 points. Mike got caught up in the "dead zone" at peg 4 but did manage 30# and 2 points for the day. Andy battled seagulls all day and still took a few fish through the backdoor of the swim. Andy pulled out 39# and came away with 4 points. Every time Andy had the rod in his hands we had to check for feathers or scales on the end of the line. He wasn't alone. Larry and Adam also had their share of the feathered nuisance today. Adam took big fish honors with a nice 18+.

I would like to thank Earnest and Magdalena for hosting this fine Winter League and to all the sponsors that helped make it even better. I'd also like to thank all of my fellow competitors in Group A for the information and help they gave me all winter. I learned a lot from each of you and look forward to spending more time on the bank with you when the weather gets better.

Good luck to everyone in group B, C, and D as you head into your final session.
