Session 1#B

2010/2011 > Raport

Group B First Session

Preparation, anticipation and attention to the smallest details typifies the tournament carp angler’s days before an event as he/she readies: Rods, Reels, Pods, Alarms, Nets, Scales etc…. Hook Bait, Ground Bait, Secret Ingredients, etc….Preparing the tackle box becomes a ritual of checking to make sure all the bits and pieces are there, ready for quick use.The tournament location is studied and discussed. Weather Reports, Water Temperatures, etc… The magnitude of it always fills up the car, and the magic of it all becomes apparent the morning of the tournament after the peg draw. This cold Sunday morning, November 14th, the preparation showed and within 45 minutes fifteen rods were actively in pursuit of our quarry. 10 minutes into the tourney, Tomasz had the first fish to the scale, a respectable 15lb-0oz. Larry was soon to follow with a 13lb-15oz.Then Dan with a 21lb-11oz, 12lb-15oz. Tomasz again with an 11lb-10oz. Paul soon strikes with a 15lb-3oz. And so the day went with qualifying fish caught at most pegs; a fish has to be at least 8lbs to qualify in this tournament: Peg 1 saw two qualifying fish.Peg 2 no qualifying fish.Peg 3 saw six qualifying fish.Peg 4 saw four qualifying fish.Peg 5 saw ten qualifying fish and the day’s Big Fish.
Common to most tournaments, some pegs will earn reputations as big producers and others as not desirable. So all that work, all that preparation, anticipation, and attention to detail is only part of the equation. The other part is luck during the peg draw.
….I would consider a small payment to the other anglers if they’d let me have peg 5 again! ?
