Pre - Winter Carp League Venue Fishing

On Saturday, October 16th Ernest, the Winter Carp League organizer, along with Adam went to Milwaukee venue to prepare the pegs and to check what's going on with the carp and see if the fish are ready for the league participants coming.
They started to fish late, around 10.30 am. The weather was beautiful, a very sunny day with a mid temperature 70F, the wind SSW 15 mph, and the water temperature 72F. The decided to give a try the worst pegs from last year league, the middle section, which will be this year pegs nr 2 and 3.

At first they couldn't see any fish jumping or showing up, they chummed a bit with World Classic Baits 10mm Mini Boilies and some Erni's Method Mix. 30 minutes was enough to catch the first carp. Adam landed a nice 15lb+ common carp and the fun has started. Within 7 hours they both caught 15 carp ( 3 of them were smaller than 8lb). The total weight of their catches 174lb, the biggest fish 19lb7oz.
So it was a good day overall!

It looks like the splitting into 4 groups was a good move from the organizator's side. Four or five anglers pegged at whole stretch of the venue will produce more fish, more comfort for the anglers and for the carp too. Less anglers equals less traffic and less pressure with chumming, which in many people experience is the weakness of the tournaments where the anglers fish too close to each other. Cannot wait to see the results after first session.

One carp caught by Adam turned out to be without eyes. They called him "Stevie". It looks like the smell, the flavor is more important than color of the bait. The eternal question what attracts better: flavor or color now is resolved ;)

If anybody during the league will catch Stevie again, will get the World Classic Baits voucher for $100 for the best flavored bait in United States.
